The port is strategically located in a protected harbor on the Tennessee River’s Pickwick Lake less than three miles from Wilson Lock and with immediate access to the main navigation channel. At just 40 miles north of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, the Port of Florence offers year-round access to the Port of Mobile, Gulf of Mexico and beyond through this global gateway.
The Florence Lauderdale Port Authority encompasses roughly 40 acres of land in the port area with 5 active businesses located therein utilizing river transportation. Amenities in the port area include outside paved storage, a 24,000 sq. ft. warehouse for inside storage, a public dock available for independent transfers, a 40-ton overhead crane on the main dock, access to mobile (crawler) cranes, stevedore services through a contract operator with over 20 years experience, local fleeting and harbor service and vacant land available for lease in the port area.
As an intermodal transportation facility the Port Authority brings river, rail and highways together to link the northwest Alabama and south central Tennessee region with the global marketplace.
